American Idol Season 9 Finale

It has been a long season for American Idol as this is the time Paula Abdul is no longer around and this is the last season for Simon Cowell. Ellen DeGeneres makes things lighter with her punches of comments with her first season as a judge. Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson continue to say the same things with just some variations. Season 9 of American Idol was not much about the contestants because they appeared to be low key with some buzz of brouhaha whenever someone great is out of the contest.

And so the finale: it was Crystal Bowersox versus Lee DeWyze. They come to the stage in school uniform and talked for a while with host Ryan Seacrest. Afterward, the Top 12 of American Idol Season 9 was complete in singing “School's Out for Summer.” In the middle of the song, Alice Copper joined them.

Next was an overwhelming performance by Kris Allen, the winner of American Idol Season 8, and some farewell bits for Simon Cowell. Aaron Kelly and Siobhan Magnus performed “How Deep is your Love”, and midway entered a couple of the Bee Gees. Michael Lynche with “Taking It to the Streets” followed, and he was joined by Michael McDonald. Comedian Dane Cook sang a song entitled “Simon Said” directly hitting judge Simon Cowell.

After the break, the women from the Top 12 of American Idol Season 9 sang “Beautiful” and “Stronger”. As expected, Christina Aguilera later came into the stage to sing some lines. Another Simon Cowell farewell segment was done by Ricky Gervais. It was then the turn of the guys from Top 12 to sing “I Can't Go for That”. The Hall & Oates medley was joined the group itself.

Crystal Bowersox made a rendition of Alanis Morissette's “Ironic.” Obviously, the popular acoustic singer sang together with Crystal Bowersox with “You Oughta Now”. Just a few bit later, Carrie Underwood, the winner of American Idol Season 4, came out with her new song entitled “Undo It,” which she co-wrote with Kara DioGuardi. Another appearance of Kris Allen entered the picture as he gave Crystal and Lee the keys to Fords.

Next to sing was Casey James with “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” shortly joined by Bret Michaels, the recent winner of Celebrity Apprentice. Lee performed with Chicago as this was the theme of the finale. Then came another farewell bit for Simon Cowell. In just a while, “Pants on the Ground” was performed by William Hung with Gen. Larry Platt. The farewell bits for Simon Cowell had its blast with the appearance of Paula Abdul.

More excitement rose in the air with the entrance of Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, Taylor Hicks and Kris Allen, and other finalists from previous seasons of American Idol. Take note that David Cook, the winner of American Idol Season 7, was not around. The finalists of Season 9 minus Lee and Crystal sang with Janet Jackson. She sang “Nothing”, and later blasted with “Nasty Boys”.

A flashback to the auditions of Lee and Crystal was shown and then they sang “With a Little Help From My Friend”. Joe Cocker joined them short after. Click here to read about it.

And so after the very long but fun-filled finale night, the results are in. The winner of American Idol Season 9 is Lee DeWyze. The farewell song for this season is entitled “Beautiful Day.”

With the loud audience triumphing, confetti falling, and the credits rolling, it was indeed the end for 2010's American Idol.
