Is Mel Gibson Dead?

It's been a trending topic on Twitter that the Braveheart star, Mel Gibson has recently died. Is this nasty news true or just another hoax on the Internet?

Well, I made a little research and I saw a post on USPostToday.com

Gibson is not dead, but he doesn’t seem to be doing too good either.

A lot of negative things have happened in his life in the last few weeks, culminating with the release of the tapes in which he is threatening his ex-girlfriend.

So there you have it. Mel Gibson is not dead. Maybe his career is. Kidding!

On the other side of the news, I saw this video trailer of a rumored upcoming movie. And the star is the cutest Dora the Explorer, except this time, she's in flesh not animated.

I got an e-mail regarding how Manny Pacquiao's fight is connected to some major incidents like the Massacre in Maguindano. Please check this out:



That surely is creepy, isn't it?

So I made a little research to check if those events mentioned above are correct with the goal of disproving it that these incidents has got nothing to do with Manny Pacquiao's victories. And since I've ran out of ideas to post here on my blog, I decided to post what I've found out here. >Monz Avenue blog.


Here's what I've found out:

Pacquiao VS Erik Morales
January 21, 2006 -Manny Pacquiao defeated Erik Morales by TKO at the 10 round.

13 Days after: Wowowee Stampede or also known as the ULTRA Stampede killed 78 people and injured about 400. About 30,000 people had been gathered outside the stadium waiting to participate in the first anniversary episode of the television variety show Wowowee. • Okay for this one, the dates are accurate. But come one why would you blame it on Manny. He was not there on Wowowee. 

Pacquiao VS Larios: July 2, 2006

13 Days after: Mayon Volcano started showing signs of a nearing explosive eruption. Mayon erupted from July to October 2006, with no apparent loss of life during the actual eruption period.

•   Okay this one not so accurate as according to Wikipedia, Mayon Volcano started showing of volcanic activity on July 18.

13 Days after: The 2007 Glorietta explosion occurred in the Glorietta 2 section of the Glorietta shopping complex at Ayala Center in Makati, Metropolitan Manila, in the Philippines on October 19, 2007 at around 1:25 PM PST. Initial reports indicated that the explosion originated from an LPG tank explosion in an in-mall restaurant.However, authorities were (as of yet) unable to confirm the true nature or source of the explosion. The blast has killed eleven persons and injured more than 100.

The 57 people killed included Mangudadatu's wife, his two sisters, journalists, lawyers, aides, and motorists who were witnesses or were mistakenly identified as part of the convoy.


Okay Yesterday, March 27, was the 13th day from the Pacquiao-Clottey fight in which Manny won again.

Was there any major disaster that happened yesterday? So far, haven't heard any, hence, I'd say perhaps the curse has stopped there. LOL

Disclaimer: Please don't be hard on me, I'm not saying Manny Pacquiao is the culprit of all those disasters. Let's not blame it on Pacquiao. I understand that all these are just plain coincidence.

Bottom line is, let's not be superstitious and don't blame it on Manny Pacquiao. ^_^

It's funny how time can make really huge changes to people even to celebrities who constantly take extra care to their physical appearance. The aging process can indeed make a lot of changes, some turned out good and some are not-so-good. Check out my list Celebrities with Huge Transformations.


1. First on my list is Jake Lloyd. Remember that kid who played as the young Anakin Skywalker in Starwars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace who effortlessly saved the day, winning pod races, dodging lasers, and all while spewing cutesy lines? Yes, that's him now. Maybe he can still throw some cute lines but I'm afraid it wouldn't be that effective as it used to be.

2. Another used-to-be-cute kid on the list is Macaulay Culkin. Funny how a quirkily cute kid like the Home Alone star Culkin has grown up to be a quirkily not-so-cute adult. Oh I heard it must be the pubescent nuptials and a few too many sleepovers at Neverland Ranch.

3. The used-to-be-hot babe Nikki Cox Mohr is an American actress known mostly for her roles on the television series Unhappily Ever After and Las Vegas. Once upon a time Nikki Cox went to the plastic surgeon and was like, “I’d like Restylane injections,” and the surgeon must have gone too proactive that he injected gallons of Restylane to Nikki's lips. On second thought, the photo must be a product of bad photoshop artist and not of bad surgeon. Otherwise, the poor boyfriend would really find it challenging kissing her lips. LOL


4. Before John Travolta starred as a funny fat lady in the musical movie Hairspray, our mothers know that he used to have that dashing debonair appeal.


5. Now who would have thought this Heroes hottie Hayden Panettiere used to play a role as a funny looking nerd ala Ugly Betty? This one is a very good transformation though.

Superhero Syndrome

I'm in trouble. I think I have been showing signs or symptoms of a disorder called Superhero Syndrome. That’s what I’ve come to realize one very early Sunday morning while I was taking a break from an exhausting 30-min jog slash brisk walking. How did I come up with such self-diagnosis?

By the way, that's the South Reclamation Project aka Cebu South Coastal Road. That's my favorite place to go for a jog.

Well, I have always hated bullies. I hate them a lot that I even fantasized of abducting them and put each one of them in an empty sack and hang 'em upside-down with flames underneath just a few inches below their heads. *insert evil laugh here* Teka, biro lang yun. Mga bata, wag gayahin sa bahay! Peru sa totoo lang, ayaw na ayaw kong makakita ng may ina-api. Kumukulo ang dugo ko sa mga mayayabang at mapanlait na tao. I guess that's also how every superhero feels towards bullies. So ano kaya magandang Superhero name ko? Hmmm... Super Mon o kaya Super Monding! Kakampi ng mga inaapi! HuhLOLZ!

Perhaps that explains why I never fail to get myself in trouble let's say once in a year. Haha! Wayback in elementary I was a very short kid. I used to be bullied as well. Kaya mula nun, I promised myself I will fight for my rights til the last drop of my blood! Kapag May Katwiran, Ipaglaban Mo! *insert Ipaglalaban Mo Theme Song here*

Aside from that hatred to all the bullies, I have this pact to myself and to my family that I will be their savior, that someday I will help them get off from poverty. That is why even though working on a graveyard shift at a call center is risky, I'm still here, working as hard as I can.

Imagine how hectic my superhero life has been! I've been juggling love, work, revenge, commitment, family and saving the world. Wheow! Beat that! *Hi! I'm a man of steel and you're my magnet!*

Yet no matter how much effort I exert, no matter how hard I work, sometimes, it never seems to be enough. There comes a point in my life that I tell myself, "I can't take this anymore!" I'm tired of being selfless. I'm tired of being the undying source of unconditional love. *Hehe! Tita Cory ikaw ba yan!*

Seriously, I think I need to treat myself nicer this time. That would mean, I will do my best to stay away from trouble. To avoid getting involved with stressful activities. Or simply to avoid stress. Oh wait, stress is inevitable in the real world. That's right. Then, I will just treat myself nicely to atleast cope up with stress. Hmm.. I'm hoping my 3-day vacation leave application gets approved so I can go swimming and just have fun! Forget all the worries. Take all the hatred and grudges away and just wear that innocent smile with all sincerity and sparkling eyes. ^_^

Wheow! It feels good already.

Many of us hold our lives to a standard higher than we have for other people. We need to learn to give ourselves a break. Superheroes only exist in books and movies. (This not Twilight nor New Moon and I am way too brown to be Edward Cullen. LOL.) This is real life and we are humans - but we can still go on to accomplish great things. We just need to love ourselves first.

Life Gives Rewards

Even if I do things the right way, some would still be unhappy and will not appreciate what I say and do, and there would always be people who would try to bring me down. This is not a perfect world and this is not a perfect life. Life is almost always unfair. But LIFE gives reward to those who dare to live it right. I'm waiting for mine. Haha.

Kris Allen is the New American Idol

And the winner is... Kris Allen!

Folksy singer Kris Allen is the new "American Idol," turning judges' favorite Adam Lambert into an also-ran.

Host Ryan Seacrest said on Wednesday's finale that nearly 100 million votes were cast for the finalists. The 23-year-old Allen, a student from Conway, Arkansas, bested the 27-year-old Lambert, a theater actor from San Diego.

The two-hour finale included performances by the Black Eyed Peas, Cyndi Lauper, Carlos Santana and Rod Stewart. Lambert performed with Kiss and Allen dueted with Keith Urban.

Allen gets a record contract along with his "American Idol" title.

Gross Behavior

It has been all over the news. On TV, on the Internet, on printed newspapers and has been the talk of the town (heheh, medyo exaj!). Singer superstar Rihanna has been allegedly beaten up by singer boyfriend Chris Brown. (Gustong-gusto ko 'tong couple na'to kaya medyo affected talaga ako sa nangyari.. tsk. tsk!)

This news reminds me of someone I know who used to be beaten up by her husband. Her name was Roxanne, a distant relative. Her husband is charming, popular and well-praised for his good deeds in the community. But there is a dark side to Roxanne's mate, one that even their close friends do not see. The Family Connection

Not surprisingly, a number of physically abusive men were themselves raised in abusive families. "As babies and young children, they grew up in hostile surroundings where emotional and physical violence were 'normal.'" According to one expert, a male who is raised in such an environment "can absorb his father's contempt for women very early in life. The boy learns that a man must always be in control of women and that the way to get that control is to scare them, hurt them, and demean them. At the same time, he learns that the one sure way to get his father's approval is to behave as his father does."

Of course, the family environment does not excuse a man's battering, but it may help to explain where the seeds of a violent temperament were sown.


Alcoholism and Drugs

Many male batterers also abuse alcohol and other drugs, it's easy to conclude that these substances may cause domestic violence. Substance abuse increases the risk for and lethality of the violence. However, one thing for sure, being under the influence of drugs or alcohol are not excuses for a batterer's behavior or for his failure to take responsibility for his behavior.

Provoked?

Many batterers deny responsibility for their actions, claiming that their wives provoke them. Even some friends of the family may buy into the idea that the wife is difficult to deal with, so no wonder that her husband loses control now and then. But this amounts to blaming the victim and justifying the aggressor. Really, battered wives often make extraordinary efforts to pacify their husbands. Besides, beating one's partner is never justified under any circumstances. The book The Batterer—A Psychological Profile states: "Men who are sent by the courts to treatment for wife assault are addicted to violence. They use it as a release from anger and depression, a way to take control and resolve conflicts, and a tension reducer. . . . Often, they can't even acknowledge their role or take the problem seriously."

Bottom line is, there is no excuse for a batterer to beat someone especially if that someone is the one he claims to love. That is just a very gross behavior. Take care everyone!

YouTube "Superstars"??

There are about hundreds of covers of Jason Mraz's hit "I'm Yours" on YouTube and one of my favorites is the one done by a Vanesa-Hudgens-look-a-like Alyssa Bernal. I think her video got the highest numbers of views on YouTube (among the I'm Yours covers), so far more than 2.5 million views.

By the way, I'm pretty sure, Kris Mark is half-filipino and half-Chinese and I've heard Alyssa is also partly Filipino (I'm not sure about that though.). Isn't that amazing? Talented Filipinos like us are everywhere!! LOlz..
